Spring is my favorite season. Not only due to my birthday celebrations in April, but mainly for the warmer days. The sun is out, the birds are singing, and the color is taking over nature. Even though I admire people who can do minimal designs, clothing, and in general lifestyle, I don’t fall into that category. I find it hard to resist color. Well, this global outbreak made sure that 2020 spring is officially canceled, but keeping the spirit up, I would like to show you a project that maintains a minimal aesthetic with pops of color.
Victoria House by NatureHumaine is a residential renovation and expansion project. The whole house has a white and raw base with the main exception; the minty colored lightweight staircase positioned at the heart of the home—the staircase’s part of the double-height area, next to the kitchen. A large roof skylight allows for plenty of natural light to come through. The floor got the same color identity, and green colored glass on the floor adds a playful tone at the level below. In the kids’ bathroom, the second pop of color is bright yellow tile work. The use of color is not overwhelming; it’s unexpected and fun.
